BIOGRAPHY
Shannon graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in classical percussion under Vanessa Tomlinson, and from the University of Southern Queensland with a Post-Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning. He has performed with various orchestral groups including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Youth Orchestra. Shannon has been a music teacher at Ferny Grove State High School since 2007 and began his journey with the program during his university studies after building a strong connection in his high school years. It is here that he began to develop his skills as a composer and arranger for percussion ensembles under the guidance of Head of Department, Stephanie McCaw. He was awarded fourth place for his piano piece ‘Humane’ in the Golden Key Music Festival international competition in 2015 and has written a large collection of works for various instruments and ensembles.
