Show Notes

David John Lang writes:

“I caught up with Anne at her house in Prospect, and we talked about inspiration, lifelong learning, and if she really knew what she was getting into when she decide to became a composer. Anne also reflected on how her experiences as a mother and a teacher are balanced – and complemented – by the need to create music. We ended up discussing the massive opera project she has been working on for the last three years. Then it was time for Anne to  pick up her son from school.”

In the words of the composer:

“I think I’m – I know I’m a better – better person? I know I’m a better mother, better friend, when I am creating. Yes, sometimes it just frustrates the crap out of me when I can’t find the answer, fix the problem, finish the piece; but there’s something inherent within me that does want, need, to be working on something.”
